There are three types of Stem Cells, totipotent, pluripotent and multi potent.
Totipotent stem cells are the most flexible cells out of all the stem cells. Totipotent cells are formed when a sperm meets an egg, and create a fertilized egg. This cell that is formed is called a Totipotent cell, and can give rise to any cell within the human body, for example organisms like your brain, or blood or skin. This quality makes it one of the most multitalented kind of stem cell.
Pluripotent Stem cells are Adult cells that have been made genetically reprogrammed, to have the same characteristics and qualities, as a embryonic stem cell. Pluripotent cells can also go by the name " true stem cells", because they have the ability to differentiate into close to any type of cell, only Pluripotent stem cells can't give rise to an organism.
Multi potent Stem Cells also give rise to different cells, just as Totipotent, Pluripotent cells can, only Multi potent stem cells can only change into a certain amount of different cells, within a supplied organ Eg. Multi potent blood cells have to ability to change into red blood cells, or White Blood Cells. Multipotent cells are just the offspring of Pluripotent cells that become the ancestors of cells like skin cells, Blood cells or Nerve cells.
